Hi guys, since I’m still in the middle of moving here’s a guest strip by P.J. Day of Flatt Bear. I recently drew some fan art for him (which I hope he posts soon) so I figured it’d be nice to share his own as well. There’s nothing Picpak loves more than wordplay and cakes, especially when they’re mayonnaise!
Picpak’s on GoComics, but he’s not syndicated so don’t go thinking crazy ideas. Check him out on Comics Sherpa!
Jon complained on Twitter about the lack of Picpak…hopefully Crispin Wood’s amazing animation makes up for it! This is from the #VivaPicpak hashtag that happened back in June, of which there are still dozens of guest strips I haven’t posted yet. Sorry if this feels like a copout, but I’m actually busy moving. It’s better than nothing! Check out more of Crispin’s great work at Small Blue Yonder.
Scott Warren is the creator behind Crunchy Bunches, one of the most fluid, animated-looking comics out there. And this fan art is no exception! You gotta love how excited Picpak is in this. He looks like he’s ready to host his own show…Crazy in Pink, perhaps? Thanks again, Scott!
I forgot to mention, Comics Sherpa is up and running again! They’re still classics, but at least you can get your Picpak fix. đ Cheers!
You may remember a couple years back when I did a piece of fan art of my characters dressed as the alien dogs from Dawn’s comic Zorphbert and Fred. Well, here she is to return the favour! (Even though one of them already is a dog…err, an alien dog…try not to overthink it, alright?)
Coincidentally enough, Dawn’s own Kickstarter launched today, where you can own some adorable plushies! I also recently drew her characters in Canada as part of her webcomic’s “World Tour”. Sadly, her comic comes to an end on July 31…but hopefully she’ll continue to give us great artwork like this for many years to come! Thanks Dawn!
Jon should be no stranger to any of you by now: he’s half the mind behind Crazy in Pink, founder of countless Crazy Cartoon Experiments, creator of multiple strips, and he’s even the reason I’ve received so much amazing fan art! I have nothing but respect for all the hard work, love and care he puts into the webcomic community every day.
That being said, perhaps he didn’t deserve receiving a pack of bubble gum that tasted like soap. But like they say, don’t knock it ’till you try it! As for being branded, I don’t recommend knocking it or trying it. A huge thanks again to my American brother! Words can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me.
I can’t begin to tell you how surreal seeing others draw your characters is. It’s fascinating to see what stays the same and what changes, and what little nuances each creator picks up on.
I mention that because even as Laurel and Hardy, Mark has Picpak and Wakky’s excited expressions down pat. If you don’t know who Mark Stokes is, he’s the genius creator of the webcomic Zombie Boy. I’ve made fan art for him in the past and recently supported his Kickstarter. So if you haven’t checked out his work, I strongly advise that you do so here! Thanks for the strip, Mark!
Does Hollywood have any idea what constitutes good design anymore? And more importantly, where are the explosions? As fan art, this is amazing and hilarious. The necklace sunglasses are a great touch. But if this was a real design for a 3D film, I’d be…less enthralled? I created Picpak as a child, it’d literally ruin my childhood memories! XD
This great fan art was brought to you by J.A. Parker. Check out more of his work at japarkerart.wordpress.com. Cheers!
This Friday, we take a blast from the past with a guest strip by the beloved Mark Stokes. Don’t miss it!
I have a confession to make: my sister let me know ahead of time I’d be receiving guest strips on Monday. I did not, however, expect the abundance (yes, I went there) of comics that I received. So early Monday morning, when I checked my phone and watched the tweets fly in, I ran out of my room laughing in hysterics. What can I say? I love this stuff! It really makes me wish I thought of it first! Check out more of Ben’s work at dogsducksandaliens.com. Thank you so much for the strip. I needed a good laugh like this!
Don’t miss Wednesday’s strip, which might just ruin your childhood memories. Take care!
In a way, this comic struck a chord with me. I’d been having bad sleep for over a month now. I also have a mental illness, which makes giving me appropriate meds more difficult. To make matters worse, my psychiatrist was away for most of the month, and walk-in clinics wouldn’t give me the help I need. After countless hours spent hopping from hospital to hospital hoping to get any kind of help, eventually I was admitted into the mental ward. I went there to relax, but the constant screaming and fighting throughout the days and nights just made matters even worse. Just like the dog, I ran back to my room where I could be happy. So thank you Chris, for illustrating what’s been going on with my life lately, even if that wasn’t your intention.
Next up on Monday is a comic I literally couldn’t stop laughing at all day. It still makes me chuckle! Don’t miss it!
I know I’ve tweeted/Facebooked about this one ever since I got it, but it just simply blows me away! I’ve always wanted to see Picpak done in a professional CGI manner, and this is the next best thing next to hiring a DreamWorks animator. The style really reminds me of the upcoming Peanuts movie. Who knows? Maybe a Picpak movie isn’t so far-fetched after all!
Rich Lauzon is to thank for this beautiful masterpiece. You can view more of his work at his comic Space Pest Removal. Cheers!
