To me, this is the quintessential Picpak Dog strip. So much so it almost feels cliched for me to post it. It’s one of the first comics I posted, for that reason. In the original you get to see a glimpse at Picpak’s “early” design. He had much more defined, “Disney” eyes and scribbly ears. Thanks for reading!
It should be noted that this comic was written before “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”. In fact, I think I was in Grade 4 myself. I should also add that this comic wasn’t drawn with the tablet. I tried, but it just didn’t turn out right. It looked like it was *shudder* drawn with a tablet.
Wakky’s expression in the third panel is the hardest I’ve laughed while drawing a comic in a while. And really, who hasn’t wanted to say something like this at the checkout lane?
Tomorrow Louis Says, a show I worked on for APTN, makes its TV debut! I haven’t even seen the final product myself, so it’s just as exciting for me as it is for you. As for Americans and people who don’t get the channel, I may arrange to see if I can find a way to share it with you. Be sure to tune in!
I have a story for nearly every comic. But when I saw this one, I was completely stumped. I have no recollection of ever drawing it, or remembering its existence. It is funny though, so I guess that’s all that matters, isn’t it?
Welcome to 2014! It’s going to be a big year, as I have two big announcements to make once they come closer. Don’t miss it!
While this comic was a lot of fun to draw, to me the real gem of the strips from this time period are these series of strips following Christmas. It’s hard to find someone you can’t offend these days!
Chances are you already know about the upcoming guest strips because I won’t shut up about them. But have you checked out my fan art for Zombie Boy?
This is about as risque as Picpak gets; it may take a couple reads to figure out why. I love how the comics started looking at around this point. It’s a little quirky, but it works.
Don’t forget, I’ve got some guest strips coming up! Here’s the schedule:
I’ve all but abandoned the “Picpak is fat” comics, but I found this one worked on a different level. I guess it’s true what they say…white sheep can’t jump!
This was one of the first comics I posted on the old site. I love the “fill-in-the-blank” nature that this comic has. How did Picpak wind up inside the shower curtain, anyway? And why did he need to wear shoes?
Art-wise, the original isn’t too bad either. A few technical mistakes but that’s about it. Anyways, this has always been one of my favourites and it was fun to redo it.
This comic was originally posted January 31, 2008. It’s the little things that make a comic, aren’t it? I just love Picpak’s little chef hat.
Monday’s comic about Youtube has quickly become one of my most popular yet. I put it up at just the right time. It was so soon, in fact, that the comic I originally intended to post went through on Tapastic! So if it felt a tad rushed, that’s because it was: I only had a few hours to work with! I do love the response from you guys though. Sometimes you get an idea that you just gotta squeeze in no matter what, and this was one of them.
If there’s one thing you can learn from the Internet, it’s that someone else always has the same idea as you. Jeff Jr. was originally created to be the neighborhood menace — but not your average Dennis the Menace and Alvin-type menace (who has been lovingly homaged in Jeff Jr’s costume). His goal was to terrorize as many people as he could, while breaking a few laws in the process.
Turns out later that Hank of Addanac City fits this very bill. Yes, his comic come out a year after this one, but he had managed to take the idea and run with it. Out of fear of looking like a copycat, I slowly let Jeff Jr. become more of a background character, who does a few pranks every now and then. One day I’d love to give him a bigger role. We’ll see…
Also, get a hold of that rotary phone in the original. I’ve been drawing those as late as 2011. It’s incredibly antiquated (and has been for decades), but it just has that charm to it, y’know?
