As it mentions in the cast page, Picpak Cat was adopted. In my older strips, he calls him "Picpak". In newer ones, it's assumed he's more comfortable calling him "Dad", so he does. So depending on when I originally drew the strip, that's when it changes around.
By the way, that answer was totally made up on the spot. But I'll stick to it.
